Training Opportunities

Almouneer is keen on providing patients with the best healthcare possible. Patient care is sustained by a dedicated and professional physician. We believe that in order to continue to provide the Egyptian population with optimum healthcare, we must cultivate the coming generations of ophthalmologists to meet our healthcare standards. As a result, we are always looking to recruit young up-and-coming doctors to train and mentor. Mentees will fall under the mentorship of our lead consultants Mostafa Nabih (M.D.) and Noha Khater (M.D.) and will get the opportunity to learn from their vast experience in retinal diseases and surgery. Mentees enjoy a high degree of independence and learn by doing rather than by instruction. Moreover, they will be encouraged to take part in our research activities and will be presented with several paths that will lead to numerous publications. Trainees have the opportunity to join one of our three training programs:

  1. Almouneer Monthly Scientific Club: Once a month, our doctors will meet to present their latest and most interesting cases in the field of retinal diseases with a focus on diabetic retinopathy. This two-hour case presentation series is open to all those interested and it is meant to allow the exchange of novel findings, techniques and methods between peers. We encourage all interested ophthalmologists to join and present their most fascinating cases.
  2. Mini Fellowship: This is a one-month long fellowship at Almouneer, where fellows will observe Almouneer’s doctors and learn the latest, most cutting-edge practices in retinal ophthalmology with a focus on diabetic ocular complications. Fellows will not only be given the opportunity to observe at Almouneer center but will also be able to observe and assist our surgeons in the operating room.
  3. Perceptorship Program: In collaboration with Bayer Pharamceuticals, we offer a quarterly perceptorship in retinal disease and surgery. The two-day program consists of several talks covering issues such as the latest in retinal diseases as well as a live surgery session. Sessions will be followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A with esteemed surgeons in the field. We will also hold an injection clinic to cover the best practices in intravitreal injection.
